How it works

Invest, establish or purchase a business in Australia

A business visa to Australia provides a great opportunity to benefit from Australia's Business Skills Program. Australia is considered one of the easiest countries to start a business and one of the easiest to do business in.

The Business Skills Program system allows business migrants to obtain a Provisional Visa for four years while you have the opportunity of investing or establishing and managing a business in Australia with their family. Once established the required level of business or investment activities, you may be eligible to apply for a Permanent Resident Visa.

To be eligible for a provisional business visa, you MUST have:

• A successful business or investment career; and
• A genuine commitment to engage in business activities in Australia

To travel to Australia for business purposes you will need a valid short travel entry permit, such as an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). You can apply online for a Business ETA if you have a passport from an ETA eligible country.

457 – Sponsored Skilled

This is the most commonly used program for employers to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia on a temporary basis for a period between one day and up to 4 years.

Once granted this temporary visa allows the overseas candidate to potentially seek permanent residency under ENS (Employer Nomination Scheme) after completing a minimum period of Australian work experience either with the sponsorship of the Australian employer or possibly even via skilled migration.

To qualify to apply for the visa, the Australian company must first obtain sponsorship and nomination approval.

With this visa those people you employ from overseas can:

• Work in Australia for a period of between one day and four (4) years
• Bring any eligible secondary applicants with them to Australia – secondary applicants can work and study
• After entering Australia, have no limit on the number of times they travel in and out of Australia.
